Diagnosis and management of three rooted permanent mandibular molar: An Endodontic challenge
نویسنده
چکیده
Variations in root and root canal is always a challenge and failure to recognize these variations can result in unsuccessful endodontic treatment. Mandibular molars can sometimes present a variation called radix entomolaris, wherein the tooth has an extra root attached to its lingual aspect. This additional root may complicate the endodontic management of the tooth if it is misdiagnosed or maltreated. The case reports in the present article focus on the radiographic identification and endodontic management of Radix Entomolaris in permanent mandibular first molars.

Understanding the morphology of the root canal plays a key role in the success of a root canal therapy. Thus considerations of the anatomic variations, in the process of diagnosis and treatment of the maxillary and mandibular posterior teeth, should be done by the clinicians.1 A thorough examination of pre-operative and postoperative radiagraphs plays a critical role in endodontic success. Vari...

Ambiguity in the root morphology of the mandibular second molars is quite common. The most common root canal configuration is 2 roots and 3 canals, nonetheless other possibilities may still exist. The presence of accessory roots is an interesting example of anatomic root variation. While the presence of radix entomolaris or radix paramolaris is regarded as a typical clinical finding of a three-...
